About the Blog
Then the Commander of the Lord’s army said to Joshua, “Take your sandal off your foot, for the place where you stand is holy.” And Joshua did so. - Joshua 5:15
It was during a quiet moment in my college apartment, reading the book of Joshua, that this scripture caught my attention. As I meditated on this scripture, I began to hear Holy Spirit say, “do something with this.” At that moment I didn’t know what that meant, nor what it would look like, but with time, God revealed His vision for me, which was to create this blog.
To be "holy" simply means to be set apart for God, embracing a life that reflects His nature, while relying on His word and the Holy Spirit for guidance in our pursuit of holiness. God alone is the One who sets us apart and makes us holy; we cannot pursue holiness in our own strength.
What's interesting about this command is that it is mentioned twice throughout the entire Bible! It was a command that God specifically gave only to Moses and Joshua. This instruction was first given to Moses as he approached the burning bush where God gave him instructions concerning his assignment to fulfill, and then to Joshua right before he led God's people around the walls of Jericho to take it down and possess the land that God had promised them.
Then He said, "do not draw near this place Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground" - Exodus 3:5

Based on these two occurrences with Moses and Joshua, we can see that holy ground moments (being in the presence of God), are essential to the life of everyone who has and desires a relationship with God. It is in the place of His presence and a posture of surrender that we are able to receive divine instructions that are related to our unique assignments.

By recognizing our need for God in every aspect of life, we can truly experience the promises He has in store for us. Journey to Promise will encourage you to live a life set apart for God’s purpose and for His glory.
It takes a journey to get to the promise!
